Children’s Day Health Fair at Clinic for Women Set for Today

Share

Families with preschoolers and school-age children who need health examinations to start school can take advantage of the Children’s Day health fair today, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at THE (To Help Everyone) Clinic for Women, 3860 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles.

Now in its 10th year, the fair is designed to help with school system requirements by providing free physicals, shots and tests. Though appointments for physicals and dental examinations have been filled, walk-ins may take any no-show slots that become available.

No appointments are necessary for the immunizations (provided by Inglewood Health Center), vision screenings (offered by the Optometry Center of Los Angeles), fingerprinting (by the Explorer Scouts of the Southwest Division of the Los Angeles Police Department) and TB testing and scoliosis screenings by other volunteers. Families may bring school forms to the fair, or standard Los Angeles Unified School District forms will be provided.

THE Clinic, which opened in 1974 as a community-oriented obstetrics-gynecological clinic, offers a special teen program with peer counseling in family-life issues. Translators who speak Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese or Spanish will be on hand for the day. Information: (213) 295-6571.
