Gang members in a stolen car sped by a large outdoor party in Carson early Saturday and opened fire, shooting three people and injuring a fourth, authorities said.

Thirty people were attending the party in the front yard of a house at 1 a.m. when the gunmen swept by, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Cox said. One of two men in the car opened fire with a pistol, he said. The car, a 1968 Volkswagen reported stolen in San Pedro Friday, was later found abandoned a few blocks away.

Officials said investigators had the name of a possible suspect and were preparing to obtain a search warrant to be served early next week.
