North Hollywood’s Ruelas Blitzes First Opponent With 24-Second KO
Gabriel Ruelas of North Hollywood made his professional boxing debut Friday night, and he made it quick.
The super bantamweight, who fights out of the Ten Goose Gym, knocked out Raul Martinez of Los Angeles just 24 seconds into the first round of their scheduled six-round fight at Caesars Palace.
Seconds into the round, Ruelas, 123, landed a stinging jab that backed Martinez up. Ten seconds later, he rocked Martinez with a left hook and then landed a left-right combination on his opponent’s chin.
Martinez, 125, went down and was counted out.
