A 27-year-old Southeast San Diego man, who was hosting a party, was arrested early Sunday in connection with the shooting death of an uninvited guest, police said.

Dale Anthony Miller was having a party at his home, in the 1000 block of 41st Street, when a group of uninvited guests tried to gain entrance to the gathering about 1 a.m., said Sgt. Stephen Cross of the San Diego Police Department.

When the intruders failed to leave at the host’s request, Miller allegedly went into his home and retrieved a shotgun, Cross said. According to police, Miller allegedly fired a warning shot into the air and then fired again, shooting one of the intruders, Todd Allen Williams, 22, of Southeast San Diego, in the chest.

When police arrived at the scene, Cross said they had to quiet a rowdy crowd before paramedics could take Williams to Mercy Hospital, where he died.
