Now hear this! You’ll actually be able to see radio at a gala fund-raiser for National Public Radio, set for Wednesday on 20th Century Fox’s Mulberry Street set in West Los Angeles. There will be a live skit--performed by Amy Irving, Marsha Mason, Judge Reinhold and Katherine Helmond--on the history of radio, even before there was radio. Also performing at the $250-a-plate benefit will be Randy Newman, Keith Carradine, Elliott Gould, Yakov Smirnoff and Duck’s Breath Mystery Theater media maven Ian Whitcomb. Co-chairs for the event: arts philanthropist Peter Norton, producer-restaurateur Tony Bill, film exhibition executive Bruce Corwin, Fox general counsel David Handelman, La Opinion publisher Ignacio Lozano and KCRW-FM general manager Ruth Hirschman.
