NEW YORK — Six days of careful questioning of more than 130 potential jurors ended Friday with the selection of five women and seven men to hear the trial of former Miss America Bess Myerson, who is accused of trying to fix the divorce trial of her boyfriend.
The panel, composed of jurors from a wide range of ethnic and educational backgrounds, was ordered to return to U.S. District Court in Manhattan on Oct. 4, when the trial is to begin before Judge John Keenan.
Myerson, 64, her boyfriend, millionaire Carl (Andy) Capasso, 43, and retired state Supreme Court Justice Hortense Gabel, 75, are charged with conspiring to reduce Capasso’s support payments in his divorce from his wife, Nancy.
