Rams Taking a Look at Marc Wilson

Share

Marc Wilson is back in town, and this time he is trying out with the Rams.

The former Raider quarterback is one of many journeymen who have passed through Anaheim in recent weeks to drop off resumes. With NFL quarterbacks dropping like flies these days, Coach John Robinson is looking for some insurance in case Jim Everett is injured. His only backup is Mark Herrmann.

“Marc Wilson is not the issue,” Robinson said, downplaying the tryout. “It’s just a collection of quarterbacks we’re looking at.”

The truth is, the Rams are low on phone numbers. Bruce Mathison and David Archer, both of whom worked out here recently, have been signed by Seattle and Washington, respectively. Wilson is pragmatic about his situation.

“It impacts the roster. That’s why it’s a tough decision (for the Rams),” he said. “A lot of times, teams won’t make a move until something happens.”

Since being released by Green Bay, Wilson has tried out with Buffalo and Miami.
