ZOO NEWS: Applications for the fall docent training workshop at the Santa Ana Zoo are being accepted. The sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to noon, from Oct. 18 to Nov. 10.

The workshop provides an overview of the zoo’s animal collection and an introduction to zoology. Participants also learn how to conduct tours, how to work with the Zoomobile--which brings artifacts and live animals to schools--and how to teach Zoo Lab, a hands-on training session in the zoo’s education center.

For information on the workshop, or on other volunteer programs, call Friends of the Zoo, (714) 953-8555.
