Man Reported Killed at Border

A Pakistani man was reportedly killed and a Mexican male injured late Friday when a van they were riding in sped into Mexico and crashed, apparently after they had been shot at by a U.S. Border Patrol agent, police said.

Details of the incident were sketchy Saturday. Two Border Patrol officials said they were not aware of the reported shooting, but San Diego police said they were advised that at least one Border Patrol agent fired at the van as it sped into Mexico.

Police said they were told that the van, carrying the Pakistani man, the Mexican male and several Chinese, sped away from a Border Patrol agent at about 10 p.m., raced south on Interstate 5 across the border, and then crashed about 15 feet inside Mexico.
