Alien Found Slain at Rural Campsite
An illegal alien was stabbed to death during an apparent drunken fight early Saturday morning in a rural campsite at the southern end of Vista.
The victim was identified as Jaime Cruz, a native of Mojaca, Mexico, who was in his middle 30s.
Sheriff’s Homicide Sgt. Danny Goodrich said deputies were called at about 5 a.m. to the campsite about a mile northwest of the 1400 block of Sycamore Avenue. He said they found Cruz dead with several stab wounds to his upper body.
No weapon was recovered, Goodrich said, and interviews with 20 other illegal aliens at the site provided no information about a suspect in the slaying. Goodrich said many of the aliens appeared drunk and that numerous beer cans and bottles littered the campsite.
