No Injuries, Damage as 4.8 Quake Hits Alaska

A moderate earthquake rattled dishes and shook light fixtures across Alaska’s most populated area, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, officials said.

The temblor, which struck at 8:50 p.m. Thursday and was centered 50 miles west of Anchorage, had a magnitude of 4.8, authorities said.
