Emperor Hirohito watched the Olympic Games on television and family members visited his bedside, one day after a sudden blood loss endangered his fragile health. Japan began the third week of its vigil over the 87-year-old monarch, who fell ill with a fever shortly before vomiting blood from an intestinal hemorrhage Sept. 19. The emperor reportedly lost consciousness when he discharged a large amount of blood and his blood pressure plummeted on Saturday. He revived after he was given emergency blood transfusions.
