Charges against one of the defendants in a case involving alleged deficient patient care at a Playa del Rey nursing home have been dropped, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said Monday.

Richard Matros, 34, of Glendale has been eliminated from the nine-count misdemeanor complaint against officers of the home operated by the Tustin-based Care Enterprises West because he did not become president until last March, after the alleged abuses were reported, Deputy City Atty. Ruth Kwan said.

The remaining defendants are to be arraigned Oct. 17. They are Lee Bangerter, 44, of Laguna Hills, chairman and chief executive officer of the chain; his twin brother, Dee Bangerter, of Villa Park, chief operating officer, and Martin Hipscham, 37, of Palms, administrator of the Playa del Rey facility.
