Two workers remained hospitalized Tuesday with injuries suffered in an explosion a day earlier that killed two others at a Santa Fe Springs industrial plant.

Safety officials spent Tuesday investigating the blast at Reinhold Industries, a manufacturer of rocket and aircraft parts. The explosion occurred Monday afternoon while workers were installing a new type of high-pressure molding machine, Reinhold President Michael Furry said. Insurance agents were working on a damage estimate.

The hospitalized Reinhold workers, Jesse Martinez of Norwalk and Soubinh Chanthavongsouk of Whittier, were listed in serious and stable condition respectively and are expected to recover, he said. The two people killed were employees of Methods Engineering, an Orange company that makes the molding machines.
