Man Held After Bombs Are Found in Probe of His Daughter’s Death

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 34-year-old Spring Valley man Wednesday after finding three pipe bombs in his home while investigating the accidental shooting death of his daughter.

Robert W. Anderson was being held in County Jail downtown in lieu of $25,085 bail, a jail official said. He was held on a drug-related warrant and on suspicion of possessing the bombs, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

His daughter, Kristine Anderson, 6, died Monday after she was accidentally shot by Anderson at his Spring Valley home, according to sheriff’s deputies. Anderson told authorities that the shooting occurred as he was examining a makeshift gun he had found near his house, a deputy said.

While investigating the shooting, the deputy said, officials discovered the pipe bombs at Anderson’s residence. One bomb, found in his bedroom, was wired to a one-gallon can of gasoline, authorities said.
