The daughter of the judge charged in the trial of Bess Myerson said she agreed to allow the FBI to tap her telephone, not realizing the investigation would implicate her mother. Sukhreet Gabel, 39, a central figure in the bribery case against Myerson and her co-defendants, took the witness stand for the first time in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. Retired state Supreme Court Justice Hortense Gabel handled the 1983 divorce case of Myerson’s boyfriend and is accused of reducing his support payments to his ex-wife after Myerson gave Sukhreet Gabel a job in the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, which the former Miss America headed.
