‘Walk for Peace’ Raises $7,000
A 10-kilometer “Walk for Peace” in Laguna Beach on Saturday raised about $7,000 for war victims in Nicaragua and El Salvador, coordinator Dorothy Callison said.
THe walk by about 100 people was organized by the Alliance for Survival and four other Orange County peace groups. Similar peace walks were held nationwide on Saturday.
The Laguna walk started at about 9 a.m. at Laguna Beach High School and continued for about 3 hours along Pacific Coast Highway, around Heisler Park and through Main Beach, Callison said. Some of the participants carried banners supporting their cause.
