Local News in Brief : Singers’ Ex-Manager Pleads No Contest
Stephen M. Love, the former manager of the Beach Boys, pleaded no contest Tuesday in Los Angeles Municipal Court to one count of grand theft in connection with the embezzlement of nearly $900,000 from the band.
Love, 41, was charged with taking money from a court-imposed trust involving proceeds of a sale of a parcel of land in Santa Barbara County. Love, who is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 16, is the brother of Mike Love, the band’s lead singer.
Stephen Love lost the embezzled funds in real estate investments in Hawaii, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Stephen Licker.
