The Whittier PTA Council has reopened its Whittier Costume Rentals at a new location, 9845 Painter Ave., Suite M. The shop is owned and operated as a nonprofit fund-raiser for the PTA to benefit schools in the Whittier Union High School District.

The shop rents thousands of costumes for such occasions as Halloween, Christmas (Santas), Renaissance Faires and mystery parties. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays through October. The shop’s former place of business for 30 years was destroyed in the Oct. 1, 1987, earthquake.
