Raw sewage spilled into the Otay River Channel on Wednesday after lightning struck a transformer at a pump station in the South Bay, a county health services spokeswoman said.
At 6 a.m., about 278,000 gallons of sewage poured out of the pump station at 19th Street and Louret Avenue in Palm City. The flow was stopped two hours later, she said.
