BankAmerica Income Up 252%

BankAmerica Corp. today reported a 252% leap in third quarter net income, marking the banking concern’s fifth consecutive quarterly profit.

BankAmerica reported third quarter net income of $190 million, or 97 cents per share, compared to $54 million, or 25 cents per share, in the same period last year. BankAmerica Chairman A. W. Clausen credited the company’s continuing profitability to growth in domestic net interest income, reduced operating expenses and low net credit losses.
