LAWRENCE, Kan. — Guard Norm Nixon scored 24 points Thursday as the Clippers held off a New Jersey Nets rally for a 118-108 exhibition victory.
Net guard Tony Brown hit a 3-point shot to close within three points, 109-106, with slightly more than two minutes remaining, but the Clippers (3-1) pulled away on baskets by Ken Norman, Joe Wolf and Tom Garrick.
Tim McCormick had 21 points to lead the Nets (1-3).
Many of the 3,400 spectators had bought tickets hoping to see former Kansas forward Danny Manning play, but Manning, the 1988 No. 1 draft pick, is still negotiating with the Clippers.
