Tudor, Scioscia, Dempsey to Have Surgery Thursday

The Dodgers said Monday that pitcher John Tudor and catchers Mike Scioscia and Rick Dempsey will undergo surgery Thursday by Dr. Frank Jobe at Centinela Hospital Medical Center.

Tudor will undergo operations in three different areas. He will have reconstruction of a ligament in his left elbow, an operation similar to the one Jobe performed on Tommy John in 1974; arthroscopic surgery to clean out his left shoulder, an area where he had surgery previously, and bone screws removed from his right knee, which he injured in 1987. He is expected to pitch as early as next May.

Scioscia will have cartilage removed from his right knee. He was injured in Game 4 of the World Series when he slid into second base.
