FBI officials announced Wednesday that they arrested a paroled child molester from Massachusetts who was wanted on an unlawful-flight warrant from that state.

Clifford Loiselle, 35, was arrested at his unidentified place of business in Fullerton at 4 p.m. Wednesday by agents from Los Angeles’s FBI office, agent Lawrence G. Lawler said.

Loiselle was held in Orange County Jail pending an appearance scheduled today before a federal magistrate in Santa Ana.

A federal unlawful-flight warrant was issued against Loiselle on Aug. 15, after the Massachusetts parole board asked for federal assistance in tracing him for an Aug. 7, 1986, parole violation warrant, Lawler said.

Loiselle was convicted in 1981 for indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in Cambridge, law enforcement officials said. He was paroled in 1982.

He now faces more charges of indecent assault and battery against a child under 14 in Massachusetts, FBI officials said.

If he waives extradition or is ordered by a federal judge back to Massachusetts, state officials there will take over the case, said Wylie Cox, an FBI supervisor in the Santa Ana office.
