‘Yes’ Vote Urged on Library Bonds

Share

In the past few years, California libraries have felt the need of improved and additional facilities. Because of the rapid growth of population in our state, libraries have been unable to keep pace and, as a result, many California neighborhoods and communities do not have a local library.

Therefore, it would behoove all of us to vote yes on Proposition 85 on Nov. 8. This measure would provide $75 million in state general obligation bonds for matching grants to local libraries and would provide, for the first time, state general funds for construction of local libraries. It would not raise taxes.

This proposal has been endorsed by numerous cities and counties, the CAL-TAX, California Library Assn., Parent-Teacher Assn.’s (PTA) and the Bellflower City Council.
