Rancho Santiago Stays Undefeated

Paul Peters’ 60-yard punt return for a touchdown sealed Rancho Santiago College’s 28-13 Mission Conference victory over Golden West Saturday in front of 2,000 in Santa Ana Stadium.
Peters also caught 6 passes for 108 yards for Rancho Santiago (6-0-1 overall, 5-0-1 in conference play). Golden West is 3-3-1 and 2-3-1.
Peters’ score capped 3 consecutive touchdowns by Rancho Santiago, breaking open a 7-7 first-quarter tie. It also gave the Dons a 28-7 lead with 5:50 left in the game.
The Dons’ Mike Miscione rushed for 120 yards and 1 touchdown in 21 carries, the fifth consecutive game he has rushed for more than 100 yards.
Eric Turner passed for 158 yards, completing 10 of 13 passes, in the first half for Rancho Santiago. Scott Wood played the second half and completed 7 of 13 for 61 yards.
Blaise Bryant, Golden West running back, gained 159 yards--100 in the first half--and 1 touchdown in 33 carries. Quarterback Joe Napoli completed 17 for 41 passes for 198 yards. He threw an 8-yard pass to tight end Dan Westmoreland for the Rustlers’ other touchdown.
