A 19-year-old El Cajon man was being held in San Diego County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder after attacking his roommate with a baseball bat, police said.
Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Peach Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, where they found the victim, Aaron Kingsley Deason, 19. Deason was taken by helicopter to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with head injuries.
The suspect, Salvador Richard (Ricky) Ruiz, is the manager of the apartment complex, and Deason was reportedly staying with him temporarily, police said.
