A senior engineer with a Pomona aerospace firm turned himself in to police Tuesday after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, who had told him that she wanted to break off their relationship, authorities reported.

Los Angeles police, answering a shooting call, found the bullet-riddled body of Ewa Jesman, 29, in her apartment in the 3700 block of Midvale Avenue in Palms.

About half an hour later, Peter Kiedron, 35, called police from a pay phone and said he had shot the woman, officers said. He also provided police with the address.

“They were lovers, and she apparently didn’t love him anymore,” Pacific Division Lt. Ross Moen said. “She was breaking up with him.”

Moen said Kiedron holds a doctorate in physics and is a senior engineer at the Perkin-Elmer Corp. Applied Science Division in Pomona. He was booked for investigation of murder.
