Elephant Chases, Kills Man in Botswana Park
From Reuters
GABORONE, Botswana —
An elephant chased and killed a 35-year-old man in Botswana’s Chobe National Park, the official BOPA news agency reported Tuesday.
The man, an employee of the Botswana veterinary department, was riding with a colleague on a motorbike Sunday when they saw the elephant and her calf. They halted but could not restart the engine and the elephant gave chase.
The second man escaped. Wildlife wardens say elephants rarely attack human beings unless they are wounded or they believe their calves are in danger.
