Hatcher Due Back, Camarillo Is Cut

Expecting the return of Dale Hatcher this week from injured reserve, the Rams on Tuesday released punter Rich Camarillo.

The team signed the 8-year veteran Camarillo on Sept. 1 when it became clear that Hatcher’s knee injury was more serious than first thought. Hatcher required arthroscopic surgery after injuring his left leg in a routine agility drill on the first day of training camp.

Camarillo, who made the Pro Bowl with the New England Patriots in 1983, filled in nicely, averaging 39.5 yards per punt in 9 games.

The team also announced the release of free-agent wide receiver Thomas Henley (knee) off injured reserve, which opens a spot should the Rams want to make a move there with Michael Young (foot).

The activation of Ron Brown this week leaves the Rams with 5 wide receivers. The team plans to carry just 4.
