Living up to its reputation as the sunniest month in the year, November enters its first weekend with skies blazing and temperatures soaring.

A mild Santa Ana will chase away the low clouds and cool weather of earlier this week and provide lots of sunshine and temperatures near the 80s, the National Weather Service reported.

“It’s going to warm up this weekend,” forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said. “A weak Santa Ana is already developing and should be here by Friday afternoon and last through the middle of next week.”

A high-pressure system pushing in from the coast is responsible for the change, Shigehara said, adding that Santa Anas are normal this time of year.

“It is not unusual for us to have a weak Santa Ana in November,” Shigehara said. “We normally receive 74% of possible sunshine during this month.”

Beach highs will be 68 to 72 today and will rise as high as 75 over the weekend, Shigehara said. The ocean temperature is 61 and the surf is 2 to 4 feet.

There will be some early-morning low clouds over the coastal section; otherwise fair and sunny days will prevail, Shigehara said.

Coastal highs will range from 70 to 75 today and nudge up to 73 to 78 Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows will be 57 to 62 through the weekend.

High temperatures in the inland areas will be 74 to 82 today and 78 to 88 on Saturday and Sunday, Shigehara said. Lows are to be in the mid-50s.
