The National Football League ruled that Mossy Cade, paroled last month after serving 15 months of a 2-year prison sentence for second-degree sexual assault, will not be permitted to return to the Green Bay Packers this season.

The Packers said Cade, 26, who has not played since 1986, could attend training camp next season, but Cade and his attorney have threatened to sue to have the player reinstated immediately.
