Share

Police on Friday identified a former Dorsey High School football player as one of two gang members who held a teen-age girl hostage then shot and wounded her to avenge the slaying of a gang associate.

Police were seeking the man, Kiilu Washington, 18, and another gang member known only as “K. B.” for the shooting Thursday of Krishna (Kris) Hubbard, 17, in the Crenshaw area, Detective John Bunch said.

The pair were allegedly holding Hubbard hostage while a third associate attempted to rob her boyfriend, Jeffrey Love, 19. After Love foiled their plans by getting a handgun and fatally shooting the third gang member, the two men shot Hubbard and left her wounded in the street, police said.

Hubbard was listed in serious but stable condition Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Washington played football for Dorsey High School during the 1986-87 season but was later suspended from school for rules violations, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Unified School District said.
