Local News in Brief : Picus Proposes Reward to Catch Park Attacker

Share

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Joy Picus on Friday proposed that the city offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons who raped three women and robbed a fourth in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area.

The proposal will come before the council Tuesday.

On July 17, Oct. 9 and Oct. 30, three women were attacked and raped while jogging or walking in the park, and a fourth woman was knocked down and robbed Sept. 14, police said.

Police have increased patrols in the sprawling park, which stretches from the San Diego Freeway in Van Nuys to White Oak Avenue in Encino, and have cautioned women to avoid jogging or walking alone in isolated areas during early-morning and late-night hours.
