Local News in Brief : Man, Mother-in-Law Die in Arizona Crash

A Pasadena man and his mother-in-law were killed early Friday when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck on an interstate highway in in Tucson, the Arizona Department of Safety said.

The truck, carrying five adults and two children, went off Interstate 10, rolled and burst into flames, authorities said. Killed in the accident were Francisco Flores, 50, and Blanca Hernandez, 60, who was also riding in the cab, Officer Julie Gresly said.

Another passenger in the cab was ejected and survived, and four people in a camper shell in the truck’s bed were able to get away before the vehicle burst into flames. All seven are believed to be from Pasadena and were apparently on their way to Mexico, officials said.
