Hancock Park : Woman Sought in Robbery
A woman suspected of robbing 23 banks in Los Angeles and San Francisco may have struck again Wednesday, holding up a Bank of America in Hancock Park at gunpoint, police said.
On Tuesday, the FBI asked for public help in nabbing suspected bank robber Shelley Michelle Lee, 25, and a second, unidentified robber wanted in at least 19 bank robberies in Southern California.
Lee was described as a black woman about 5 feet 3 inches tall, 120 pounds, with a penchant for wearing wigs, glasses or other disguises.
A woman who witnesses said matched Lee’s description held up a Bank of America at 4800 Wilshire Blvd. about 11:25 a.m. and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Detective Larry Delosh said.
FBI spokesman Jim Neilson said an arrest warrant has been issued for Lee, also known as Shelley Miller, who allegedly held up 21 banks at gunpoint between May 4 and Oct. 28 in the Los Angeles area and two in the San Francisco area.
