Ex-Beach Boys’ Aide Sentenced for Embezzlement
The Beach Boys’ former business manager, convicted of embezzling more than $900,000 from the pioneer surf rock group, was sentenced today to five years’ probation and ordered to make $86,000 restitution.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gordon Ringer imposed the sentence on Stephen M. Love, 41, who pleaded no contest Oct. 18 to one count of grand theft.
Prosecutors said that Love, a younger brother of Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love, embezzled more than $900,000 from a court-imposed trust.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Steve Licker said the funds were proceeds from the sale of land in Santa Barbara involving a partnership between Stephen Love and the Beach Boys.
