A circuit court judge in Hillsborough, Fla., waived the rest of New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden’s probation for a 1986 altercation with police. The judge praised Gooden for doing “really well” in meeting and exceeding terms of his 3-year probation, which had not been scheduled to end until January 1990.
