County Jail Inmate Dies
A female Orange County Jail inmate died of unknown causes Saturday after being in custody 2 days on an narcotics warrant.
Geraldine Rodriguez, 37, of Irvine was pronounced dead Saturday morning at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials reported.
Officials said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The county district attorney’s office is investigating the death.
Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Richey said Rodriguez was arrested Thursday morning on a narcotics warrant issued by Irvine police. The warrant was for possession of drug paraphernalia. Rodriquez was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
On Saturday morning, she became ill and was transferred to Western Medical Center, where she died. Richey had no further details on the incident.
