‘Insurance Watch’ Forms Offered

Santa Monica residents who think their insurance companies are using Proposition 103 to cheat them out of coverage are being urged to complain to the city attorney’s office.

“Insurance Watch” forms, available at City Hall, can be used to report canceled policies, rate increases or other irregularities that may be related to the passage of Proposition 103, which cuts insurance rates across the state, City Atty. Robert M. Myers said.

Myers said his office will review the complaints and forward those that cannot be resolved to the attorney general’s office.

“The people have voiced their desire that there be serious reform relating to insurance rates,” Myers said in a press release. “It is our intention to see that this effort is not undermined by unfair insurance industry practices, which may try to subvert the intent of Proposition 103.”
