Hans Christian Andersen would be proud. The late Danny Kaye was honored Monday in San Francisco when the city’s International Toy Museum was dedicated in his memory in recognition of his work as Ambassador-at-Large for UNICEF for 35 years. California state Sen. Milton Marks (D-San Francisco), who attended the ceremony along with San Franciso Mayor Art Agnos, declared Monday “Danny Kaye Day.” Each consulate represented in San Francisco--including the Soviet Union, Sweden and England--presented a male and female doll from their country to inaugurate the museum’s exhibition of dolls from around the world. The dedication marked the 1-year anniversary of the museum, which is a “hands on” museum that allows visitors to play with antique trucks, fire trucks, dolls, doll houses and more.
