A suspected 15-year-old gang member was wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday outside a South-Central Los Angeles junior high school, police said.

The victim, who was not identified because of his age, was taken to County-USC Medical Center in stable condition following the 12:20 p.m. shooting, Lt. John Lane said.

The victim and a 14-year-old friend were standing near 29th and Main streets outside John Adams Junior High School when the boy was shot twice from a passing car carrying at least two youths, Lane said. He was struck in the knee and the chest, said a hospital spokeswoman. He is listed in fair condition.
