West Hollywood : Senior Representation Plan

Share

The City Council on Monday approved a plan designed to give senior citizens better representation on the city’s boards and commissions, and improve the quality of city programs available to seniors.

In adopting the recommendations of the Senior Advisory Council, the council committed itself to improving transportation for older residents, encouraging the hiring of older workers and expanding community programs aimed at seniors.

“There is a great need to stimulate seniors so that they don’t sit within four walls and wait for life to end,” said Kate Pizer, a member of the advisory panel.

The panel was established last year as a liaison between city officials and senior citizens. City officials estimate that one-third of West Hollywood’s 37,000 residents are older than 55.
