A Quarterback Blitz for Heisman Trophy
Troy Aikman has great passing statistics, mostly from lots of short and safe “underneath” patterns. They get great media reviews but don’t win football games against competent defenses.
Rodney Peete has very good passing statistics, yet he excels in an area that never lends itself to statistical quantification: Games won when the chips are down. Peete is 2-0 against Aikman, and the name of the game is winning, not completions.
Peete is the best choice for the Heisman Trophy, at least in L.A.
