Only One Rail Route Makes Sense

Share

The polls make it clear that 75 to 80% of the Valley’s citizens want a modern transportation system--and now.

A Valley Industry and Commerce Assn. study gives us the answer to our immediate problem, though the politicians on the county Transportation Commission would rather sit on it than face the facts. There is only one route that always made sense, the Chandler-Burbank to Warner Center route. The use of the freeway is unrealistic and not feasible.

It can be accomplished for less than $1 billion. It would use deep trench and berms where needed and can be, when the ridership demands, turned in to the Metro Rail system. It can be completed in 4 years, not in the next century.

There is no reason for the Transportation Commission not to support the VICA study and make a decision by May, 1989.
