Simi Valley Couple Attacked; Car Stolen
A Simi Valley couple were in critical but stable condition Saturday after being attacked in their back yard by two men who stole the couple’s car, police said.
The incident happened at 6 p.m. Friday when Paul Shugrue, 36, went outside after hearing some noise. Two men hit him on the head with a blunt object and then attacked Judith Shugrue, 35, who had run outside after hearing her husband’s screams.
Both victims underwent surgery for skull fractures Saturday at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital. Police said car theft probably was the motive for the attack.
