Three Americans are in a field of eight who will tee off today in pursuit of golf’s richest pay-out, a $1-million first prize in the annual Million Dollar Challenge at the Sun City course in Bophuthatswana, South Africa.

The Americans are L.A. Open winner Chip Beck, Ken Green and Don Pooley. Also entered are defending champion Ian Woosnam of Wales, 1986 winner Mark McNulty of South Africa, and 1985 champion Bernhard Langer of West Germany.
