1 Dead as Car Swerves Off Ventura Freeway
A Westlake Village man was killed when his car swerved off the Ventura Freeway, overturned and struck a utility pole, the California Highway Patrol said.
Ryan Rector, 19, was dead at the scene of the 10:40 p.m. accident Wednesday north of the Liberty Canyon Road interchange.
Rector had been westbound on the freeway when he lost control of his car where the freeway curves to the north, officials said. Rector, who was alone, apparently attempted to steer the car away from the median, but it went off the side of the freeway and crashed.
