Local News in Brief : Teen Accused of Shooting Boy, 17
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting of another teen-ager along the concrete banks of the Ballona Creek flood control channel, Los Angeles police said Friday.
The suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, was arrested Thursday night at his home in Mar Vista near the scene of the shooting, Lt. Ross Moen said. Alex Austin, 17, was found fatally wounded along Ballona Creek behind an apartment complex.
Detectives have not determined a motive for the slaying, but it does not appear to be gang-related, Moen said.
