Groundless Accusation

Share

This letter is in response to the letter from James E. Rauch of San Diego (“Cover-Up for Racism,” Nov. 20) In his letter he cites racism as the reason behind the Convention Center Corp.’s decision not to use Martin Luther King Jr. as the name for San Diego’s convention center.

Mr. Rauch, your accusation is generalized and unsubstantiated. Comments such as yours only serve to lessen the credibility of the movement to defeat racism. Since I am very much involved in this movement, I welcome any positive critique of our society. However, comments such as the one you made make the work of those who want to eradicate racism that much more difficult. Your energy is heartening. Your comment makes me cringe.
